Who is Jesus
It would be difficult to even begin to explain Jesus on a simple website, but here it goes. You know the Christmas Story that Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to a virgin named Mary in Bethlehem. You also know the Easter Story where Jesus was crucified, died on the cross and was buried, only to miraculously rise on the 3rd day and defeat death.
What about His life in between and why was He here? Well, Jesus is the Son of God and he proved it through His many miracles. His teachings give us the best and most fulfilling way to live our lives. His endless love for us models how we should love others and his ultimate death was the last sacrifice, to right all the wrongs we’ve done. His resurrection gives His people hope that we can conquer death and live an eternal life with Him. The entire Bible from the beginning (Genesis) to the end (Revelation) is about how we need Jesus and why He came for us.
We want you to meet Jesus. The invitation to meet Jesus is open to anyone, anytime at any place in your life. Jesus already knows you, where you are and why you’re looking. He’s waiting for you to come to church and meet Him.
The basic story of Jesus, from the beginning of the Bible, to the end… in 5 minutes.
Why do I need to know Jesus?
Many reasons, but here’s the big idea of why we want you to meet Jesus.
Jesus the Savior – The greatest gift exchange ever made! Ever since Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the garden and rebelled against God, sin has entered the world. This grieved God greatly. But rather than give up on us, He set forth a plan to save us. He sent Jesus. Jesus is God, come down as a man, to pay the price for that sin and set us right with God again. This is the greatest gift exchange – when you accept Jesus as your savior, you give Jesus your sin and He gives you salvation (eternal life in heaven.) It’s a pretty good deal, don’t you think? Your sin exchanged for His salvation. It’s kinda why we love Jesus so much.
Jesus the Teacher – Jesus gave us so much information about Himself, life and how to be fulfilled spiritually. He will always tell you the truth about Himself and the broken world we live in. Jesus is well aware of the nature of this world. He doesn’t promise anyone pain-free life, but He does promise hope through it.
Jesus the Best Friend – People will let you down; your parents, spouse, friends, even your kids. No matter how much you love someone, they just aren’t perfect all the time. Jesus is. Jesus is a good friend even when we’re bad friends to Him. He always forgives, loves and listens to our prayers. Jesus always cares about what is happening to you and what you’re going through. Jesus is how we get through anything.
Jesus the King – Jesus is a powerful King and conqueror of Satan, sin and death. Jesus is also a bold leader of His church through the Holy Spirit. He gives his people ministry to lead others, serve faithfully and reach the world through discipleship. Jesus protects us from fear of death and gives us a meaning to life.
